4 The Outburst of V 1647 Ori Revealed by Spitzer
We present Spitzer Space Telescope observations of V1647 Ori, the outburst-ing source lighting McNeil's nebula, taken near the optical peak of the outburst in early March 2004. The source is easily detected in all Spitzer imaging bands from 3.6-70 µm. The fluxes at all wavelengths are roughly a factor of 15 brighter than pre-outburst levels; we measure a bolometric luminosity of 44 L ⊙. We posi...
متن کاملThe double outburst of the unique object V 838
We present spectroscopic and photometric observations of the recent peculiar outburst of V838 Mon, carried out at Rozhen and Toru´n observatories. Our data cover a period of three months beginning just before the second eruption. The evolution of the outburst is divided into four phases. The changes of particular spectral features for each of these phases are shortly discussed. V838 Mon is one ...
متن کاملOutburst in Mira A
We report here the Chandra ACIS-S detection of a bright soft X-ray transient in the Mira AB interacting symbiotic-like binary. We resolved the system for the first time in the X-rays. Using Chandra and HST images we determined that the unprecedented outburst is likely associated with the cool AGB star (Mira A), the prototype of Miratype variables. X-rays have never before been detected from an ...
متن کاملCompleting the puzzle of the 2004 – 2005 outburst in V 0332 + 53 : the brightening phase included
Analysis of the data obtained with the RXTE observatory during a powerful outburst of the X-ray pulsar V 0332+53 in 2004–2005 is presented. Observational data covering the outburst brightening phase are analysed in detail for the first time. A comparison of source parameters and their evolution during the brightening and fading phases shows no evidence for any hysteresis behaviour. It is found ...
متن کاملPost - Outburst Observations of V 1647 Ori : Detection of a Brief Warm , Molecular Outflow Sean
We present new observations of the fundamental ro-vibrational CO spectrum of V1647 Ori, the young star whose recent outburst illuminated McNeil’s Nebula. Previous spectra, acquired during outburst in 2004 February and July, had shown the CO emission lines to be broad and centrally peaked—similar to the CO spectrum of a typical classical T Tauri star. In this paper, we present CO spectra acquire...
